UNISDR "GTFBC"
Global Task Force on Building
Codes
The Global Task Force on Building Codes
(GTFBC) was initially formed by participants of the session on building codes
during the ISDR Global Platform for Disaster Risk Reduction in Geneva in June
2007. The list of the GTFBC members has grown through a number of events on
building codes including IDRC Davos 2008, ISDR GP 2009, etc. The GTFBC consists
of worldwide experts in the field of building codes and practices: UN agencies
(UN-ISDR, UN-OCHA, World Bank, UNDP, UN-HABITAT, UNESCO, UNICEF, UNCRD, UNU,
etc.), international organizations and NGOs (IFRC, IAEE, IAWE, IG-WRDRR, ICC,
ADPC, ADRC, EERI, Build Action, RICS, DWF, EMI, Plan, INEE, COGSS-DPE, Risk Red,
etc.), national governments and institutions, universities, building officials,
architects, engineers, seismologists, etc. UNESCO performs as a secretariat of this Task Force.
